KINGSTON, Jamaica - Local exporters are being urged to take advantage of the opportunities for increased international competitiveness that will accrue from the Government’s Global Logistics Hub initiative.

The call came from Industry, Investment and Commerce Minister, Anthony Hylton, who addressed the Jamaica Exporters’ Association (JEA) 49th annual general meeting recently.

“The Jamaica Logistics Hub provides us with the ideal opportunity to reposition our export industries, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to benefit from more business,” he said.

Minister Hylton noted that the Logistics Hub will be a key pillar in the Government’s export-led strategy and is intended to serve as a platform for Jamaica’s exports to the world.

He said the Government remains focused on the broader mission of achieving robust export-led growth, “as we move closer to realising the vision of a logistics-centred economy that is buttressed by an improved business environment, strategic investments in our industrial infrastructure, and an enabling environment for our micro, small and medium enterprises.
